...meet the Sevens

Mark Tootle

Mark was one of the unsung geniuses of the original 77's lineup. Graced with a sophisticated ear, a love of language, and a nose for a good hook, it took Mark a little longer to mature as a songwriter than his counterpart, Mike Roe. By the time the Island album was recorded though, he was in full form - penning two of the catchiest numbers on that record: "Do It For Love" and "What Was In That Letter." The bulk of Sticks and Stones features his work as well. Mark left the group in 1990 and became the music director at The Warehouse in Sacramento.
